The A-Z of Sassy & Lolla

B - Burn time

To achieve the best burn on your beautiful Sassy & Lolla sunflower wax candle, the trick is to burn it right on the first burn. This should help avoid any tunnelling.

  • Use a torch type lighter - wooden wicks can be a little temperamental to light - this is due to them having to warm up to 'suck' the wax up in order to burn (cotton wicks don't need this as they are already coated in wax to allow them to catch quickly). You may need to hold the lighter on the wick for a few seconds...but persevere & it will burn low & slow

  • On the first burn it's important to all the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the candle the sure, on the first burn, that the wax melts to the edge of the candle. This creates a memory for the candle & means that the next time you burn it, it will continue to melt evenly all the way down

  • Our wood wicks have a low flame so this will likely take a couple of hours. If you don't have that long for your first burn, try to resist the temptation of lighting it until you do!

  • Our candles have a maximum burn time of around 60 hours

  • Our rapeseed & coconut wax melts have a double tea light burn so will last a good 8 hours each!
